Healthy Benefits of Turmeric

Time to spice up your food with some Turmeric! This wonderful spice also called "The Golden Goddess" is a root plant that comes from the Curcuma Longa and looks like ginger. Originally from India, it has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries and has many incredible health benefits. It's definitely a superfood! The main active ingredient is curcumin which makes the yellow orange color. It contains iron, potassium, manganese, vitamin B.

Here are some of the amazing health benefits:

  • Antioxidant
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Antibacterial
  • Antiarthritic
  • Liver detoxifier
  • Prevent and slow down the process of Alzheimer
  • Aids digestion
  • Natural antiseptic
  • Improves skin condition
  • Helps prevent gas/bloating
  • Lowers LDL Cholesterol - the bad cholesterol
  • Strengthen the immune system
  • Studies have shown that it may help prevent cancer like colon, prostate, breast and lung cancer

I use turmeric in my soups, veggies, lentils and quinoa. I sprinkle it a bit everywhere! I also discovered that it is better absorbed when mixed with fats like cold pressed oils, coconut oil, yoghurt or cottage cheese. I love the feeling of eating foods that are super good for my body & health. That makes it simply awesome!

You can also had it in your hot water with lemon and ginger. It's a super detox drink and helps fight colds.

Happy spicy day!
