5 Ways To Add Some Bliss To Your Day!

Do you have the sunday evening syndrome? Not feeling very excited to leave the weekend behind and say hi to monday? If there is no doubt that a weekend filled with fun activities brings more joy than a day spent inside an office, sometimes life happens and we have to take jobs we're not so passionate about while working on achieving our dreams. That's kind of where I am at the moment. My days are not my ideal days yet but I am working on it and I believe that I will be enjoying my own schedule and freedom soon. In the meantime, I have a job that helps me get there. I really believe in making the most of each day and try to add some happy vibes along the way.

Here are 5 ways to add some Bliss into your day:

  • Take time for yourself

Find a moment each day for yourself and do something that makes you happy. Even if it's only 5 minutes. You could wake up 30 minutes earlier to meditate, enjoy your breakfast, go for a run, do some sun salutations or just simply take time to get ready for your day instead of rushing out the door with a cup of coffee in your hand and being stressed out because you are late again. My wellness morning routine is an essential part of my day as I need that time for myself before a day spent sitting at a desk. It definitely brings some good vibes to have some "me" time.

  • Act like you are on vacation.

Yes. You read right. It's all about finding some fun during the day and if you have to wait for your 2-3 weeks a year to unwind and enjoy yourself, than it would be pretty depressing. At least for me. So what I came up with, or I should say my mom, as she joked one day after a work day, "oh so you're on holiday now" and I said while laughing, yes until tomorrow morning, how great is that! ;) Since then we often keep joking about the vacation thing on week nights or weekends.  But I realized that it actually gives you another perspective of your day. The attitude changes and just thinking for a second that this time off after your office hours could be spent as a vacation time makes it more fun! It's all about changing your mindset.

  • Get moving, get some air

Go out on your lunch break, breathe some fresh air, meet some friends, go for a walk/run. It will disconnect you from your office and will give you more energy for the afternoon or after a busy day. Doing a sport you love will release endorphins- the feel good hormone, which will boost your mood and energy!

  • Have some fun & laugh!

Charlie Chaplin said "A day without laughter is a day wasted". Yep, couldn't agree more! Don't take yourself so seriously. Laugh at awkward situations, sing while listening to your favorite music on your way to work, enjoy the pouring rain, be a kid, connect with friends, talk to strangers, do something new, be creative.

  • Be grateful

Being grateful brings happiness. Studies have shown that being grateful and showing love  increases your level of happiness. List 5 things before going to bed that you are grateful for each day. You will start to pay more attention to the little things that put a smile on your face and think about what will be on your daily grateful list.

Gratitude brings happiness!

Have you heard about a gratitude journal?

It's a great way to shift your day, energy and add some rays of positivity and happy thoughts to your routine. I discovered this a few months ago and love the energy and good vibes it brings. You basically write 3 to 5 things in a journal that you are grateful for in your day or week. You will wake up and go through your day more conscious of looking for the good things that happen instead of going through your daily duties without much thoughts. You will start to appreciate all the little things that come up on your way and be thankful for them instead of taking them for granted. The nice walk on your way to work, a postcard you received, a magical talk with a friend. When you start paying more attention, you really appreciate those moments even more and it's much better than focusing on all the things that go wrong or negative vibes. As Oprah said: “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”

"We think we have something to be grateful or something has to be done in order for us to be grateful, when gratitude is a state of being." Iyanla Vanzant

"The miracle of gratitude is that it shifts your perception to such an extent that it changes the world you see." Dr. Robert Holden

"Whatever our individual troubles and challenges may be, it's important to pause every now and then to appreciate all that we have, on every level." Shakti Gawain

"Gratitude is the single most important ingredient to living a successful and fulfilled life.Jack Canfield

Happy positive day!

Gratitude moments

I started a few months ago to change my perspective of the weekly routine and tried to find things- small things- that would make my day or smile- instead of waiting for the big things. It's all about gratitude. Happiness is found in little moments. Being grateful everyday brings positivity. You concentrate on what you have and not the opposite. We live in a society where we always need more, we're always waiting for the next big moment in our lives which brings us to always be waiting for the time where everything will be perfect. When you wake up in the morning and keep in mind to look for those little hidden precious moments that will put a smile on your face and make your day, you will start to appreciate those moments and find joy almost everywhere. As Oprah said: "a good feeling increases more good feeling".

Highlights of this past few days -I had quite a few...it's kind of easy during summer ;) -  I heart Summertime!

  • A fun day & night at a festival that included lots of laughing with friends, a certain amount of belgian waffles and a magnificent sunset.

  • A wellness friend's birthday afternoon at the lake

  • What more than a bike ride, an old movie at the park, sharing sweaters & socks with friends for the not "so hot summer nights", the crowd singing out loud "Hey jude", as a prelude of a warm "*gezellig" evening watching "Flashdance".

As crazy as it is, I've never watched it before, but so nice to move on the sound of the 80's music and there's actually a few inspirational quotes to take from this movie ;)

"Take your passion and make it happen. Pictures come alive, you can dance right through your life!"

"When you give up your dream, you die"

  • An improvised evening picnic under a big tree in the park while raining, with a friend I haven't seen in a long time. It included lots of talking about life. #scorpiopositiveenergy
  • A 30th birthday barbecue party for one of my bestie's  *chill out, summertime, fun, gezellig day*

What were your highlights of your week?

Happy summer day!
